The Mainz Prince-Bishop Johann Karl Friedrich von Ostein granted the privilege of establishing a porcelain manufactory in 1746 in Höchst, which means it is the third oldest in Europe. Still today one is producing there the "white gold". Apart from figurines and tableware following historical patterns one is continuosly extending the production range by modern articles. The manufactory is located in a restored historically protected factory building in the Palleskestrasse 32. There you can have a tour of about one hour showing the entire production process from preparing the mass, modelling, firing, glazing up to hand painting.
